North American Wensleydale Sheep Association

June 14, 2003
Board

Burrows, Myrtle Dow, Martin Dally, Andrea Szabo, Sherry Carlson,
and member Roy Dow.
Vice-President Barbara Burrows
called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm MST. It was announced that
President Neil Kentner’s wife, Connie, had recently passed
away. The board extended its condolences to Neil and his family
and elected to make a donation from the Association to the local
Michigan 4-H program in her name.

Martin Dally made a motion to approve the minutes of both the Board
Meeting and Membership Meetings held on October 19, 2003 in New
York. Andrea Szabo seconded the motion, which passed unanimously .

Martin Dally asked why there
was no office expense used last year and the secretary, Sherry
Carlson explained that she had been absorbing the costs, but did
request that the Association reimburse half the cost (approx $175)
of a software program, Adobe Acrobat, that she uses for documents
on the website. Martin Dally made a motion, seconded by Myrtle
Dow, to approve the proposed budget and to reimburse the software
cost. The motion passed unanimously.
Flock Book
The board agreed to postpone the publication of a printed flock
book this year. It was felt that the cost is not justified for
the current size and budget of the Association and we will explore
an online format for distributing the information. The new registration
service, AccuRegister, will work with the secretary on this project.
It was felt that most, if not all, of our membership have computer
access and would be able to print out their own copy. In the
event that this is not possible, the secretary could print one
and mail it to the member.
Director’s
Election Results
Sherry Carlson announced that the directors for the 2004-2005 term
are:
Barbara Burrows, Myrtle Dow, Neil Kentner, and Sandi Hanson. The
board was in agreement that the same slate of board officers would
be retained: Neil Kentner, President, Barbara Burrows, Vice-President,
Sherry Carlson, Secretary and Sandi Hanson, Treasurer.
Proposed Bylaw Amendments
Ballots will be mailed to the active membership to amend the fiscal
year and redefine “active” membership. Any changes
to the bylaws must be approved by a 2/3 majority of active members
The new fiscal year proposed
is January – December, and the membership renewal year as
well as director’s terms of office would follow this year.
The proposed definition of
an active member is “Any person, family or corporation who
owns, breeds, and registers Wensleydale sheep in the Association
flock book each year. If an active member registers no animals
for a period of two consecutive years, the members shall automatically
become an Associate member.”
2004 Meeting Location
Myrtle Dow made a motion to hold the next membership meeting of
the Wensleydale Association at the Black Sheep Gathering in Eugene,
OR in June 2004. Seconded by Sherry Carlson, the motion passed
unanimously.
